Westmount subdivision

The Westmount subdivision is a 7.4-km section of track between the Montréal-Ouest and Lucien-L’Allier stations and an important point of convergence in the network: trains from the Vaudreuil-Hudson, Saint-Jérôme and Candiac lines must use it to reach the Lucien-L’Allier station. A total of 30,000 train users pass through this corridor every day!

Improving service and punctuality

The configuration of the train tracks and the condition of the railway signals have shown their limits. For example, when a single train breaks down or is simply delayed along the corridor, this produces a domino effect: delays accumulate and have significant repercussions on the three train lines. We had no choice but to intervene!

Developing the infrastructures

The railway infrastructure improvement work mainly focused on the following elements:

  • Extending track #1 (third track) over a distance of 4.8 km
  • Widening the Vendôme station platform to serve track #1
  • Installing links between tracks
  • Building a crash wall in the sector of the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough

All of this work will let us improve the punctuality and flow of rail traffic, and also add departures!

We take your concerns to heart!

This work is necessary to improve or maintain our network, and we are doing everything in our power to minimize the inconvenience caused to our customers and to the residents who live near the tracks.
