As of June 1, 2017, this sector of the Réseau de transport métropolitain (RTM) corresponds to the territory previously served by the CIT Sorel-Varennes. Regular transport and paratransit services, transit passes, fares, schedules and other policies will remain the same until further notice.
Taxibus is an intermunicipal public taxi service, available by reservation. Passengers travel according to a pre-determined schedule, with over 300 stops implemented across the Sorel-Tracy, Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel and Sainte-Anne-de-Sorel network (pilot project). Access:
Are you between 12 and 17 and a resident of Varennes? This public taxi service is for you! It allows you to travel cheaply from a residential address to various public places in Varennes, Brossard, Boucherville and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville.
Users who have made a reservation for the same time will be able to share the taxi; this will optimize travel by maximizing the number of passengers per vehicle. Since the service uses taxi cars, no more than four passengers are allowed in each vehicle. Travel as well as pick-up and drop-off points will vary, depending on the origin and destination of passengers; ideally, all pick-ups will be completed within 20 minutes of departure time. Access:
Cycling to work, to school or to discover new places? The Vélo-bus makes your bike trip easier! With a valid travel pass or ticket, you can have your bike carried by the bus, free of charge, to and from the stop of your choice. You must be able, without assistance, to lift the bike unto the rack before you board and remove it after you disembark. Bikes must not be laden with items and removable accessories that could prevent other passengers from using the bike rack, fall off while the vehicle is moving, hamper driver visibility or hide the vehicle’s headlights. In addition, bikes must not be locked onto the rack. Limit of two bikes per rack. Only non-motorized, two-wheeled bikes are allowed. This service is available:
For safety reasons, the bus driver is not allowed to leave their seat to help you. RTM Sorel-Varennes and the carrier are not responsible for bicycle thefts or damages during use of bike racks or luggage space. For more information on how to load and remove your bike on bike racks:
